ABOUT OUR SALON
Sheena’s is a friendly, fun, boutique hairdressing salon in Illawong, Sutherland Shire. We think it is cool to be kind to animals, the environment, and to our fellow humans, so we use cruelty free hair products (EVO, Unite, Pravana).
At Sheena’s we offer personalised one-to-one care from suggestions in consultation, colour, extensions, cut or smoothing service, home care, to a take home how-to-style-your-hair-yourself video!
Here, you are NOT a sheep-ple.
Sheena’s specialises in multi-tonal colour for ALL colours – blondes, reds, coppers, rainbow, peaches and pinks – sculptural cuts, extensions and styling for MAXIMUM impact and minimal effort, to bring out the empowered confidence and personality in EVERY kind of woman.
Here, no two people are the same, and we make sure to dedicate time to address ALL your hair concerns… If only EVERYTHING in life was that simple?!
We also believe that beauty is ageless
We also believe that beauty is ageless and should absolutely NEVER be defined by a number or a stereotype! You know all those lists that tell you what you can’t wear anymore once you’re 30? Well, chuck them out the window, we don’t believe in that here. You’re a mum or a fellow boss lady, so you’re short on time and a bit lazy? That’s ok too, doesn’t mean you can’t still look fabulous with effortless style! We will show you how.
We respect that you are a VERY busy and important person, therefore, we endeavour to keep to time, and, if we are running a wee bit late, I will notify you so you aren’t hanging around.
I also know it can be a little bit boring and hum-drum when you are cooking for your colour or extensions treatments, so, to make the time pass quicker and less like a chore, we have fun bits and bobs that will hopefully unlock the inner creative in you.
Don’t really like making small talk and consider yourself a little bit of an introvert? Then, we got you too, just indicate it in our in-store system Otherwise, prepare yourself for LOTS of laughing, and quite possibly some dancing.

Hi! I’m Sheena, it’s so nice to meet you! Let me introduce myself…I consider myself a hairgician, and I have THE BEST job in the world!!!
I’m a Vintage and pin-up enthusiast, Irish dancing and Irish bòdhran drum thrasher, Alice in Wonderland superfan, verocious reader and learner, MAD music and aerial arts lover, general goof and all around loon! …
And most of all, I love to make people feel better about themselves… My hope is that you will feel uplifted, confident, empowered and ready to take on the world after any interaction with me.
I’m WILD about creating beautiful low maintenance hair colour that you can feel beautiful and confident in wearing! I see harmonious colours in nature and our surroundings playing like a wonderful symphony, and love to translate that into hair.
Extensions are my JAM because they can INSTANTLY give you your dream hair, and who doesn’t want THAT???!!!
I’ve also been told that I’m the most impatient person in the world, so, I try to make sure you aren’t here for 100 hours for your appointment. I know how boring it can be waiting for your hair to cook, so, I try to never make it a dull experience for you.
It took me a little while to find my vocation as a hairdresser...
I’ve been a dancer, a school teacher, a deli wench, and a clown in amongst various other jobs, and it wasn’t until I went solo overseas to Europe for a while that I discovered my true passion – hairdressing!
After the dancing stopped, I was completely lost, and never thought I’d find something else that I would love as much, but boy was I wrong! I started applying colour and doing my own sort of balayage on other people who were staying in the hostel as me, as a way to socialise (and also as a way to make a bit of money to travel), and when I came back to Australia, I knew I had to do something different, and the answer was simple! That was the moment that made me it just goes to show that you’re never too old to learn something new and completely start over.
